Designing an effective learning space can be a complex and challenging task. One of the biggest challenges is accommodating and finding alignment within the diverse needs, preferences and work situations of different learners and users of the space. Learning spaces must be flexible and adaptable, allowing for a variety of teaching and learning methods.
The course is conducted over synchronous and asynchronous e-learning, coupled with a one-day workshop that uses a hands-on approach in answering these questions:
1. How do we know and design for the different learner types?
2. How can learning spaces be flexible and adaptable?
3. How does digital tools fit in?
4. What kind of environment is effective in learning?
5. Is my learning design back-dated and irrelevant today?
6. How do I achieve effective and enjoyable learning design without bursting my budget?
7. Can I be inclusive and cater to varying needs of learners?

Yong Jieyu
Yong Jieyu is the founding director of STUCK – an award winning design consultancy with works spanning research, product, interaction and experience design. His expertise has led to the creation of multiple successful and meaningful designs for government entities, multinational corporations and innovation startups. Jieyu is also a passionate advocate for design education and methodology. His dedication to this field has seen him invited to speak, critique and teach at local and overseas universities and polytechnics. Alongside Edwin Low, Jieyu co-wrote the Design Thinking Curriculum at Singapore Polytechnic. He is also actively involved in part-time lecturing at the Division of Industrial Design, National University of Singapore since 2010.
