Honorary Fellow Dr Tam Chat Tim received the ASTM Certificate to honour his longstanding membership with ASTM since 1964, his engagement as a member of the ASTM committees on C01 on Cement and C09 on Concrete and Concrete Aggregates, and on his utilisation of ASTM standards in civil engineering education in University of Malaya and NUS.  The award was presented on 24 April 2023 at the ASTM International function in Singapore in the presence of 2023 (current) and 2024 (incoming) Presidents of ASTM. 

Associate Professor Kenneth G. Huang, Dean's Chair and Academic Director, Master of Science in Management of Technology, and Innovation, was invited as a Keynote Speaker for the 2023 International Conference on Engineering Management and Information Science (EMIS 2023). His keynote was on “The Impact of Non-Practicing Entity Litigation on Firm Innovation Strategies.” The aim of the conference is to bring together innovative academics and industrial experts in the field of Engineering Management and Information Science to a common forum. The primary goal of the conference is to promote research and developmental activities in the related field.

Distinguished Professor Christine Shoemaker has won the 2023 Career Award from SIAM Geophysics Section and Plenary Lecture to be presented in Norway in June. SIAM is the international Applied Mathematics organisation and only one SIAM Geophysics Career Award is given per year for lifelong research contributions.

Xia Wei, former PhD student and current research fellow for Professor Christine Shoemaker, has won the Kamide Early Career Lectureship from AOGS (Asia Oceania and Geosciences Society) for 2023. This is a “Distinguished” lectureship for a young Researcher or Faculty and only one person per year is selected for this honour.

Assistant Professor Clement Zheng’s Ceramic Circuits comprising a collection of conductive ceramics that combines design, human-computer interaction and craft was featured in The Guardian, on 28 March 2023. The project was developed together with a team of researchers and students from the Division of Industrial Design: Associate Professor Hans Tan, Associate Professor Yen Ching-Chiuan, Han Bo, Liu Xin, Serene Tan, Travis Ong, Wina Nashita and lastly, Assistant Professor Laura Devendorf from University of Colorado Boulder.
