FACULTY AND STAFF UPDATES
Professor Mok Wei Wei, Department of Architecture
Professor Mok Wei Wei is presently Managing Director of W Architects Pte Ltd. He graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture (Honours) in 1982 from the National University of Singapore. Mok’s numerous architectural projects have received critical acclaim both locally and internationally. His works have been featured in numerous regional and international publications. In recognition of his contributions to Singapore’s architectural scene, he was conferred the President’s Design Award in 2007, the nation’s highest honour for design. Mok was a member of the Preservation of Monuments Board from 1999 and subsequently the Deputy Chairman of the Board until December 2016. He was a board member of the Urban Redevelopment Authority from 2006-2018, and a board member of the Singapore Land Authority from 2015-2021. He is currently a board member of the Jurong Town Corporation. In recognition of his contributions to public service, he was conferred the Public Service Medal (PBM) in 2014.
Professor Soo K. Chan, Department of Architecture
Professor Soo K. Chan is the founding principal and design director of SCDA, a design studio seamlessly integrating architecture, interior design, landscape architecture and product design to create holistic spatial experiences. SCDA has offices in Singapore, Shanghai, Manila and New York. The firm has projects in over 70 locations across Asia, Africa, Europe, Oceania and North America. Chan was the inaugural recipient of the President’s Design Award, the recipient of three American Institute of Architects (AIA) International and AIA New York Awards, three Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) International prizes, and nine Chicago Athenaeum awards, among others. Chan obtained his Master of Architecture degree at Yale University. He has taught in several international architecture schools, including Syracuse University and the National University of Singapore.
Mr Lim Chia Wei, Instructor, Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering
Mr Lim Chia Wei joined the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department as an Instructor (Educator Track) on 26 July 2023. Chia Wei is currently in the final year of his PhD in the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department (ChBE) and is expected to graduate at the end of this year. He completed his BA and MEng in Chemical Engineering at the University of Cambridge, UK, from 2015 to 2019. During his PhD candidature in ChBE, Chia Wei took up the role of a Teaching Assistant in multiple modules and was awarded the ChBE Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award for the academic year 2021/2022.
Dr Wang Zhiguo, Lecturer, Department of Industrial Systems Engineering and Management
Dr Wang Zhiguo joined the ISEM department as Lecturer. He graduated from NUS with a BSc. (Honors), Statistics & Applied Probability in 2014 and Ph.D., Industrial Systems Engineering & Management in 2019. Before joining NUS, he was a Lecturer at SUSS School of Business from 2020, teaching Fintech/ AI /Programming topics. Dr Wang has been conferred as a Chartered FinTech Professionals (CFtP) by Global Fintech Institute in 2021 and has contributed to several book chapters in Fintech for Finance Professionals and Applications & Trends in Fintech I: Governance, AI, and Blockchain Design Thinking. Dr Wang’s research interests reside in Machine Learning and Statistical Modelling, Natural Language Processing, Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) and Cryptocurrency and Stablecoins.
Ms Jacelyn Chung Hom Mei, Assistant Manager, Department of Architecture
Ms Jacelyn Chung Hom Mei joined the Department of Architecture on 1 July 2023, bringing along her work experience in CDE and the former School of Design and Environment (since 2014). She holds a Master’s degree from NUS and obtained her Bachelor’s degree from NTU. She is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and has over 15 years of experience in both public and private sectors. She will support the Department’s academic matters in the areas of postgraduate programme and research administration.
Dr. Lee Cheng Choo, Laboratory Executive, Department of Architecture
From July 2023, Dr. Lee Cheng Choo took on the position of Laboratory Executive in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE). She completed her doctorate degree in Nanofabrication from the University of Sydney, Australia during the period of 2009-2012. Before joining NUS, Dr. Lee worked as a Senior Research Engineer at Umeå University, Sweden. Her primary focus was on electron microscopy techniques, which involves using advanced microscopy tools to study materials and their properties at nanoscale-level. In her current role at Dept of MSE, she will be responsible for managing and overseeing the laboratory’s operations, specifically on the operation and maintenance of state-of-the-art aberration-corrected electron microscopes.
Mr Jonathan Leong Wai, Executive, Department of the Built Environment
Mr Jonathan Leong Wai will be supporting Undergraduate Programmes in the Department of the Built Environment, assisting with awards, financial aid and student exchange programmes, along with programme and student administration matters. He has about four years of prior experience supporting academic programme administrations.
Mr Du Yutong, Teaching Assistant, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Mr Du Yutong joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering as a Teaching Assistant in July 2023. He works closely with the Electrical Engineering Principles and Practice (EPP) teaching team and the Introduction to Machine Learning teaching team in facilitating lectures and laboratories.
Ms Hou Linxin, Teaching Assistant, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Ms Hou Linxin joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering as a Teaching Assistant in July 2023. She works closely with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in facilitating undergraduate teaching especially in tutorials and laboratory sessions.
Mr Neil Banerjee, Teaching Assistant, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Mr Neil Banerjee joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering as a Teaching Assistant in July 2023. He will be helping to teach various courses for Computer Engineering undergraduates, including Engineering Principles and Practice I & II – his favourite from his time as a student.
Mr Yu Juezhao, Teaching Assistant, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Mr Yu Juezhao joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering as a Teaching Assistant in July 2023. He is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering at NUS ECE. In his previous roles as a student researcher and an engineering professional, he gained invaluable experience in machine learning and engineering design.
Ms Nur Hafizah Binte Jumari, Teaching Assistant, Division of Industrial Design
Ms Nur Hafizah joined the Division of Industrial Design (DID) as a Teaching Assistant for the Creating Narratives module. Her role involves course coordination and delivery, content development and assessment.

Ms Tang Yujie joined the Division of Industrial Design (DID) as a Teaching Assistant for the Creating Narratives module. Her role involves course coordination and delivery, content development and assessment.
Ms He Peiwen, Assistant Senior Manager, Department of Materials Science and Engineering
Ms He Peiwen will be handling administrative matters for Graduate Research Programmes in the Department of Material Science and Engineering (MSE), and overseeing the administrative matters for other programmes in the department. Prior to joining MSE, she worked at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy where she managed the end-to-end programme operations for the Master by Coursework Programme.
Miss How Yee Teng, Laboratory Executive, Dean’s Office (EDIC)
Miss How Yee Teng joined the Engineering Design and Innovation Centre (EDIC) as a Laboratory Executive on 26 July 2023. She attained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design Art from Nanyang Technological University. She values craftsmanship and finds joy in the process of bringing ideas to fruition through making and tinkering.
Mr Royston Shieh, Teaching Assistant, Dean's Office (EDIC)
Mr Royston Shieh joined the Engineering Design and Innovation Centre (EDIC) as a Teaching Assistant on 20 July 2023. He is a graduate of Mechanical Engineering and the Innovation and Design Programme (iDP). His passion for innovation sparked from his interaction with smart cities and emerging technologies, focusing on IoT, electric mobility, and energy storage solutions. As the co-founder of Alpha Electrics, a GRIP swappable battery startup, he is deeply invested in promoting the use of light electric vehicles across Southeast Asia. He is a firm believer in the potential of technology-centred solutions and looks forward to employing a multidisciplinary approach to the convergence of engineering and design.
Ms Tan Hwee Khim, Management Assistant Officer, Office of Finance
Ms Tan Hwee Khim, Cheryl will be joining CDE Finance - VIM team on 24 July 2023. She will be the VIM verifier for ECE, ISEM, DID and YSTCM.
Mdm Bernadette Kueh Meng Kim, Manager, Dean's Office (Office of Research and Industry)
Mdm Bernadette Kueh Meng Kim joined the Office of Research and Industry (ORI) as Manager for Partnerships and Engagements on 17 July 2023. With her extensive industry experience, she will play a key role in conceptualizing engagement strategies, forging strategic partnerships, curating data, and maintaining effective communication with stakeholders. In her position, she will focus on boosting industry collaborations, enhancing translational research capabilities, and ensuring proper governance in all engagements.

Faculty Retirement
Mr Wong Chew Yuen, Laboratory Technologist, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering last day of service is on 31 July 2023. The college would like to thank Mr Wong for his service for more than 40 years. During this time, he has worked in both the Surveying Lab and the Geotechnical Lab. He has contributed significantly to the growth and development of the NUS Geotechnical Centrifuge facility over the past 30 years. We wish him all the very best for the future!
