d-urn

Ash-scattering is becoming more acceptable, but the practice still lacks of the sensitivities of sending off a loved one. The project investigates the current processes and gestural movements of ash scattering with the objective of engaging the user to perform ash-scattering in a ritualistic manner.

d-Urn is a disposable and biodegradable paper pulp urn that aims to create a new experience of ash-scattering whilst updating its aesthetics. From collecting ashes from crematorium to disposal of the urn, d-Urn provides subtle hints to users to celebrate the departure of their love one, creating a pleasant experience.
