Named after a Chinese myth, and informed by traditional Chinese acupressure treatment, KuaFu helps its users relax by massaging the Shi Mian and Yong Quan meridian points. Its distinctive ergonomic shape guides users’ feet over its singular protrusion, massaging it while providing a surface to explore and rest users’ feet.
User testing helped determine the optimal shape for effective stimulation of meridian points and ease of use.
Countless sketches and form studies were made in pursuit of between form and function.
KuaFu went through numerous iterations to achieve a suitable form. These prototypes were made with foam, clay and wood. By testing them with various subjects, the optimal user friendly and intuitive design to guide the user into stimulating the meridian points was established. The exploration in various forms also allowed KuaFu to establish a visual and tactile identity.
