Combining the joy of catching bubbles with the action of sanitising our hands, Opal brings an air of surprise and fun amidst Covid-19, seeing the disruptive preventive measures of everyday life not as obstacles, but as sparks for joyful possibilities.
It all started with the question….Could preventive measures be unobtrusive? What if they could actually become positive experiences?
What if sanitising our hands could be as delightful as catching bubbles?

Through extensive exploration of different chemical components, we found the child-safe Opal solution. It consists of benzalkonium chloride, an aqua-based disinfectant that synergises well with bubbles and has been proven to work effectively against COVID-19, together with amino acid, amine oxide and glycerine.

After rounds of iterations, we arrived at Opal’s final form. It is understated yet welcoming, with its wide and tilted opening inviting people to interact with it. Opal can be placed on a platform or wall-mounted to fit a variety of contexts.

Sanitising no longer needs to be another extra task in our day, but a magical moment shared with those around us.
