“Life Beyond Plastic” is an experimental installation that aims to highlight humans’ plastic obsession and its detrimental consequences to the oceans and its ecosystems. People get to experience how our daily actions are unintendedly posing threats to marine life and the environment as they interact with the everyday plastic objects.
We hope this project reminds people of the unseen cruel reality behind the usage of plastic.
As soon as motion is detected, the virtual shadows would morph into the silhouette of different marine wildlife.
These animated silhouettes reflect how marine animals are suffering due to the unimaginable amount of daily plastic consumption.
With the use of projection mapping and sensors to track motion, interactive virtual shadows are created for each object that is placed on the platform. Animated visual cues help to invite and guide people to interact with the plastic objects on the platforms which requires small daily actions, namely, pressing, twisting, and poking.
