Singapore National Winner - Auxobrace - James Dyson Award 2023
Congratulations to E Ian Siew, NUS Division of Industrial Design Class of 2023, whose ground-breaking sternal rehabilitation device, Auxobrace, just clinched the Singapore national title in the James Dyson Award 2023.
The development of the device, which uses a mini vacuum pump and 3D-printed flexible materials, was inspired by his own experiences having undergone two rounds of open-heart surgery since early childhood. Auxobrace was developed as E Ian’s final year thesis project, supervised by Associate Professor Ching Chiuan Yen and Assistant Professor Clement Zheng from the Division of Industrial Design.
