Congratulations to Dr Ching Chiuan Yen, Associate Professor, Division of Industrial Design!
His research project with HTX and SCDF together has won the Asia Regional Gold Winner award for Reimagine Education Awards.
The project developed an XR (extended reality) system with immersive and interactive elements to train SCDF officers in managing Road Traffic Accidents (RTA) and Hazardous Materials (HazMat) incidents.
The design, a world’s first, brings the officers through realistic training scenarios that engage their senses of sight, hearing, touch, and even smell. The system has been implemented in CDA (Civil Defiance Academy) for training. It is now in phase 2 of research and development.
