Leadership Programme – NUS E-Scholars

Programme Instructor: Professor Vivien Lim (link)

Programme Summary

After the end of their school semester, the engineering scholars (E-Scholars) enrolled into our flagship 3-days leadership programme designed to discuss work-related challenges and organizational issues of social & organizational enterprises. The programme takes the perspective that at some point in the E-Scholars’ career, being engineers, technical professionals and innovators, they will have to lead teams to bring about organizational changes and optimal work performance.

The engineering scholars went through the programme to equip themselves with the executive intelligence i.e., skills and knowledge they need to work with and influence others to bring about optimal organizational outcomes. Throughout the program, they were challenged about the common assumptions and ideas that they have about what makes leaders effective and recognize that great leaders never stop evolving.

The programme focuses on the skillsets and competencies that are required to navigate the complexities surrounding interpersonal relationships at the workplace. The E-Scholars discussed and examined the role of the self, followers, organizational characteristics, environmental changes that impact leaders’ behaviors. Other topics discussed include self-leadership skills, the role of emotions and non-verbal in working with others, perspective taking, power, and influence.
