FAQ
Undergraduate credits, Performance & exit
Is there a minimum GPA to attain to remain in the programme? What will happen if we do not meet this minimum GPA?
E-Scholars should maintain a GPA of at least 4.0. Should the GPA fall below 4.0 for one semester, a warning letter will be sent to the student. The student will be advised to consult with his/her academic mentor. Should the GPA fall below 4.0 for two consecutive semesters, the student will exit the E-scholars Programme. Scholarship disbursements will cease and the student will continue his/her education within his/her Department. In exceptional circumstances, the Director of the E-scholars Programme may extend the E-Scholar status for a third semester, giving the student the opportunity to raise his/her GPA above the threshold.
In Year 1 Semester 1, NUS has restricted a maximum number of 23 units that a student can take. As an E-Scholar, who is expected to accelerate my study, can I take more than 23 units?
The E-Scholars office will send the list of E-Scholars freshmen to the Undergraduate office and inform them to relax the 23 units limit. E-Scholars can read up to 27 units for Semester 1 of Year 1. However, please note that this overloading of courses cannot be used as a mitigating factor should the student fail to maintain the GPA required to continue in the E-Scholars Programme.
If I am admitted into the E-Scholars Programme but I am unable to cope, can I withdraw later without a penalty?
If the E-Scholar decides to terminate the scholarship prematurely, the university reserves the right to impose some repayment, if necessary, on a case-by-case basis. He/she can then revert to the normal programme.
