Systems Design Competition for Digital Twinning Next Generation Ports

Have you ever wondered how Singapore transformed into its role today as a premier global hub port and an international maritime centre? In today’s interconnected world, more than 90% of the world’s trade is carried by sea. The Port of Singapore is one of the busiest in the world due to our strategic location in the heart of Asia. Seaborne trade has always been an important lifeline for our little red dot, and it remains the most energy-efficient and environmentally friendly mode of transporting cargo, with major global freight being moved via containers. To manage the extensive number of containers, container depots provide various services to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

In the near future, students today may find themselves playing a part in Singapore’s maritime ecosystem, which comprises of over 5,000 establishments that employ more than 170,000 individuals. Joining hands with Eng Kong Logistics Hub, NUS has put together a workshop and competition titled “System Design Competition – Digital Twinning for Next Generation Container Depot” to allow young secondary school students to learn more about the logistics and maritime industry. With the help of Moffatt & Nichol’s FlexTerm technology, the students will get the opportunity to try their hands at customising simulation models for container depots.

We’re excited to see young and new faces here at both the workshop and competition taking place from 2nd – 9th December in NUS. We would like to thank both Eng Kong Logistics Hub and Moffatt & Nichol for supporting this competition. Sign up at: https://forms.gle/AvqpMEcUz2hYLXUeA
