ThreatMirror
AI-assisted algorithm to identify critical cybersecurity threats
TechLeads: Lim Chye Seng, co-founder of OverArX
Cybersecurity has become a real threat to many companies. ThreatMirror technology applies AI-assisted algorithms to identify the most critical threats to a system and will recommend targeted countermeasures that optimize protection. Unlike checklist-based approaches, ThreatMirror builds threat models on real-world attack behaviour and adapts them to each system, providing contextualized and relevant insights. The project team will need to understand the market-fit for this product and design a viable go to market strategy to ensure a financially viable business
Evolution
Accelerated & targeted evolution of genetics to develop new bioprocesses
TechLead: Asst. Prof Julius Fredens, Dept of Biochemistry
Lytic Selection and Evolution (LySE) is a platform that enables accelerated evolution of a chosen gene or gene cluster, e.g. a metabolic pathway or a protein complex. The method hyper-mutates a specific DNA fragment and then by selecting for the metabolic product or protein function, the productivity can rapidly be improved. This tech has various applications such as (i) improving existing bioproduction platforms and (ii) kick-start bioprocesses that are currently non-feasible or non-existent. The team will need to find a “must-have” need in the market for this unique tech and plan its commercialization.
GNext.SG
Business plan for a hair dye chemistry with little or no skin allergic reaction
TechLeads: Prof Giorgia Pastorin, Prathyusha, Dept of Pharmacy
Nearly all permanent hair dye formulations rely on para-phenylenediamine (PPD), a skin sensitizer causing allergic contact dermatitis in 4–6% of users worldwide. NUS has developed novel PPD derivatives that retain the same hair colouring efficacy as PPD while showing more than 700x lower skin penetration, 6–7 times lower cytotoxicity, and near-zero immune sensitisation response in lab models. They can go into adjacent markets like textile colourants, eyebrow tints, and henna tattoos. The job of the project team is to identify a suitable beach head market where this serves as a must-have need and develop a plan to commercialize this product.
Achilles
Automated Foot Screening to reduce ulcers, amputations & healthcare costs
TechLeads: Ajinkya, Jonathan, Co-Founders of Seamless
Achilles is a hardware + software platform that automates foot sensory assessment to enable predictive health screening and monitoring. It addresses major gaps in diabetic neuropathy detection and elderly fall-risk prevention. By enabling earlier identification of at-risk patients and targeted preventive interventions, Achilles helps reduce ulcers, amputations, falls, and downstream healthcare costs. The team will need to figure out the beach head market and plan its commercialization.
Horaion
AI-powered system for real time scheduling & planning for complex operations
TechLeads: Henry, Moses, Co-Founders Horaion
Horaion is an AI-powered resource optimization platform that intelligently connects people, time, and assets into one unified system by eliminating manual planning by automating workforce scheduling, shift assignments, and resource distribution based on real-time demand and business rules. From hotel housekeeping to hospital wards, Horaion helps build a single, intelligent command centre that adapts to how your business runs. The team will need to find a need for this tech and develop a viable business plan.
