Mr. Fong Saik Hay is a Corporate Advisor to Temasek Holdings and Senior Advisor to Xora Innovation. Previously, he served as CTO of ST Engineering and, concurrently, President of ST Dynamics, a wholly owned subsidiary of ST Engineering. With annual revenues of more than US$5B and over 23,000 employees, ST Engineering offers land, sea, air and space solutions to customers in over 100 countries. In his role as CTO, Mr. Fong managed multi-disciplinary groups and programs across the organization to drive the development of solutions to address increasingly complex, global systems. As President of ST Dynamics, he oversaw the ideation and development of new capabilities, from concept to viable business opportunity. In this capacity, he was deeply involved in technology scouting and evaluation of strategic investment opportunities. Together with Chief Strategy, they set up a US150m Corporate Venture Fund. He also spun out Innosparks from ST Dynamics to create an even more agile innovative incubator with notable products like Air+ Smart Masks and Airbitat Cooler with a clarion call to “Touch Lives”.
Prior to his tenure at ST Engineering and ST Dynamics, Mr. Fong was SVP (Engineering) at ST Kinetics, where he transformed the military vehicle Business from a maintainer and upgrader to one capable of indigenous designs resulting in the Bionix, Bronco and Terrex armoured vehicle families. Additionally, he led investments into desalination technologies, fuel cells, electric/hybrid drives, energy efficient hydraulics, supercapacitor technology and Stirling engines. The fuel cell company, HPower went public and the transmission company, Silvatec, was taken in-house where it still supplies world class military transmissions. He had served on the Boards of Kinetic Drives Systems (Silvatec), Advanced Materials Engineering Pte Ltd, FusionTech, Nanoscience Innovation and several ST Electronics subsidiaries including Satcom & Sensor Systems, Info-Software Systems, Info-Comm, Digital Media and Training & Simulation Systems as well DSO National Lab.
Currently, he serves on the Board of Phononic Inc, an investee company of Temasek International and Co-chairman of NAMIC Project Selection Panel. On public and charity front, He serves on the Board of School of Science and Technology, Care Corner Singapore and Love Your Family International Ltd.
He is also an Adjunct Professor with National University of Singapore with the Institute of Engineering Leadership
His current passions are in the field of sustainability and mentoring of young engineering leaders.
Mr. Fong graduated from National University of Singapore with First Class Honour in Mechanical Engineering, earned a Master of Science in Computer Engineering, Information and Control Engineering from the University of Michigan, and received executive management training from the Program for Leadership Development at Harvard Business School.
