Assistant Professor Pieremanuele (Piero) Canepa from NUS Materials Science and Engineering has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, in recognition of his work in the field of Computational Materials Science.
Asst. Prof. Canepa, leads the Canepa Research Laboratory at NUS which leverages the power of supercomputers and advanced simulation algorithms to push the boundaries in the transformation and storage of clean energy.
The models derived from his research team contribute to the rational design of new materials for clean energy technologies, such as electrode materials for rechargeable batteries.
Established in 1848 and headquartered in London, the Royal Society of Chemistry is one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious scientific societies.
Asst. Prof. Canepa said: “Becoming a Fellow of the Royal Society does not only represent a recognition of my research work in materials for energy storage and transformation; it is also an important demonstration that being an active part of the community also indirectly contributes to elevate NUS MSE as an international player in this discipline.”
