MSE Alumni – Dr He Shan Awarded Stanford University Energy Postdoctoral Fellowship

The Stanford Energy Postdoctoral Fellowship is a highly competitive and globally prestigious fellowship, with only ten fellows selected worldwide for each cohort. The programme supports outstanding early-career researchers working on interdisciplinary solutions for the global energy transition and is hosted by the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability’s Precourt Institute for Energy.

Dr He Shan(Class of 2025) research topic was on atmospheric water harvesting during his joint PhD at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and NUS Materials Science and Engineering. At Stanford, he will focus on developing moisture heat pumps – an emergent technology designed to extract moisture and release heat offering the possibility of significantly improved efficiency than conventional heat pumps. Dr He Shan’s research will also enhance the heat pumps capacity to generate clean water as a byproduct.
