NUS Engineering has signed an agreement with Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) to offer joint PhD in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. The agreement was signed during SJTU President Professor Lin Zhongqin's visit to NUS on 30 November 2017.
The Joint Programme will open up more opportunities to students as they are able to tap on the expertise and facilities available in both institutions. Students will be jointly supervised by faculty staff from both NUS and SJTU for their thesis and they will also get to spend at least one year at the partner university. The Joint PhD Programme will start on 1 April 2018 and there will be two intakes into the Programme each year, with up to 10 students from each University to be admitted annually.
Apart from the NUS-SJTU Joint PhD Programme, NUS Engineering also offers joint PhD programmes with other renowned overseas universities such as CentraleSupélec (France), Eindhoven University of Technology (Netherlands) and Indian Institute of Technology (India).
