Professor Zhang Yong (Department of Biomedical Engineering) has been elected a Fellow of Singapore Academy of Engineering (SAEng).
Prof. Zhang is known for his cutting-edge research and development of new functional materials and devices for bioimaging, point-of-care diagnostics, and wireless phototherapy.
He is globally recognised for his leading research in light-emitting nanomaterials and implants for wireless cancer photodynamic therapy and optogenetics.
According to the Academy, SAEng Fellows "are elected through a rigorous peer-review process that evaluates individuals on the basis of their stellar leadership and career achievements in the field of engineering across all disciplines".
Founded in 2011, the Academy aims to strengthen Singapore's skills and knowledge base in order to support the long-term development of the nation.
