Assistant Professor Chen Po-Yen from NUS Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and his team developed a new technology that can be used to make smart protective clothing material. By integrating elastomer, a natural or synthetic polymer that is highly elastic, with structured two dimensional (2D) material films like graphene oxide, the team's innovation - a bilayer material - can provide robust barrier protection against chemical solvents and fires. The team will showcase their innovation at Yayasan Mendaki's Learning Festival at the Tampines Hub on 4 November 2017.
