Exploring the Intersection of Social Science and City Planning
NUS Cities, a university-wide, interdisciplinary initiative hosted within the College of Design and Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS), is pleased to announce a fully funded PhD scholarship opportunity for exceptional candidates interested in research at the intersection of social science and city planning.
This PhD will be co-supervised by Dr. Prateek Bansal (Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, NUS) and Professor Leonard Lee (Institute for the Public Understanding of Risk, NUS), combining cutting-edge insights from engineering, behavioural science, and urban studies.

The candidate must
- hold a bachelor’s/master’s degree in City Planning, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or any relevant Engineering discipline
- have a strong interest in developing new data-driven approaches from the social sciences for city planning
- have interest in developing new methods and inter-disciplinary research.
