Data and the insights they provide is vital for progress in engineering, science, businesses, and the society as a whole. At the same time, the widespread use and collection of data raises concerns related to cyber-security and privacy. Researchers in CDE are at the forefront of research in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data analytics that seeks to harness the full potential of data to transform our industries and facilitate the development of new applications. Our research also addresses the key cyber security challenges associated with the information collection, storage, and processing with particular emphasis on security for the Internet of Things, cyber-physical systems and critical infrastructure, and hardware security. In addition to individual PI driven research funded by various government agencies and the industrial partners, NUS CDE has established the Cisco-NUS Accelerated Digital Economy Corporate Laboratory to develop data-driven solutions that address some of the key objectives of Singapore’s Smart Nation initiative. CDE researchers are also engaged in university wide centers and initiatives on data privacy, artificial intelligence, and digital economy.
