What You Will Learn

This course introduces participants to Operational Carbon and Smart Facilities Management. 
At the end of the course, participants will:
  • Understand the principles, considerations and criteria for sustainable design and maintainability, with green facilities management in mind throughout the life cycle of a facility.
  • Gain knowledge of possible ideas that save energy or generate renewable energy, the efficiencies and suitability for deployment locally.
  • Understand how renewable energy sources such as solar PV technology can be integrated with buildings and the Built Environment, how the energy generated can be integrated with the grid and stored, the viabilities of different energy storage technologies and the required supporting infrastructure.
  • Learn state-of-the art techniques, equipment and innovation trends for sustainable operations – how they can be incorporated in the design for new buildings, and deployed in existing buildings to reduce carbon emissions.
  • Gain an appreciation of energy auditing, measurement and verification, as well as energy management.
  • Understand the attributes of a smart buildings.
  • Understand the Building Automation System
  • Understand Data science for the built environment
  • Understand Smart Facilities Management

Module "Operational Carbon and Smart Facilities Management" is recognised for 18 PDU points from the Professional Engineers Board.

Who Will Benefit

Public sector technical officers who are involved in three broad functions - urban planning, engineering/building design, and facilities management.

Entry Requirements

Bachelor's Degree/ Diploma holders in Engineering, Science, Technology, and Bachelor's degree in Architecture preferred. For Diploma holders, relevant work experience will be required.
