Dr Clayton Miller, Assistant Professor from the Department of the Built Environment is among the top 12 finalists for the 2021 edX Prize for Exceptional Contributions in Online Teaching and Learning.
The massive open online course run by Dr Miller on edX titled "Data Science for Construction, Architecture and Engineering", had over 20,000 participants from more than 140 countries. Dr Miller is one of the top 12 finalists for the 2021 edX Prize for Exceptional Contributions in Online Teaching and Learning.
"I'm proud that my online course, Data Science for Construction, Architecture, and Engineering, was chosen as a finalist for the 2021 edX Prize for Exceptional Contributions in Online Teaching and Learning! I am passionate about this course because data literacy is a skill set that anyone can and should pick up," shared Dr Miller.
The course introduces data science skills targeting applications in the design, construction, and operations of buildings. The learners will learn practical coding within this context with an emphasis on basic Python programming and the Pandas library.
"The building design and construction industry is overflowing with data and helping architects, engineers, and construction or operations managers achieve momentum in this area could make a big impact on the performance of buildings and the health and satisfaction of occupants who use them," added Dr Miller.
The edX Prize is an annual award that celebrates the contributions and innovations of educators in the edX community, and amplifies the powerful role that online learning plays in the transformation of education today. Click here for the full list of finalists.
