What You Will Learn

This course introduces the advanced concepts of small aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, related systems and their applications. There will be a problem-based design project for this course. There will be involvement and collaboration with the industry. There will be a combination of lectures, tutorials, case studies, seminars and project activities. There will be practical flying sessions, such that, the participants will have first hand experiences and tips to fly safely & comply with local regulations. The flying sessions will prepare to take Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) pilot license as well.

Dr. Sutthiphong Srigrarom

Dr. Sutthiphong "Spot" Srigrarom, Ph.D. from the University of Washington (2001), is a teaching fellow in Mechanical Engineering at the National University of Singapore and an adjunct associate professor at the Technical University of Munich. With previous faculty positions at Nanyang Technological University and Singapore Institute of Technology-University of Glasgow, he currently co-supervises PhD students at SUTD and is a visiting professor at Universität Bundeswehr Munich and Osaka University. His teaching focuses on small aircraft and unmanned aerial systems at NUS, with research interests in unmanned aircraft design, applied aerodynamics, and AI applications in aerial systems. Since 2019, Dr. Srigrarom has published over 70 international journal papers and holds an H-index of 12. He actively contributes to scientific communities as an editor and reviewer. He has mentored over 100 undergraduate and graduate students and collaborated with industry and governmental agencies in aerospace projects, achieving significant accolades in UAV competitions.

Entry Requirements

Basic degree in engineering or science OR prior knowledge of Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) or relevant experience.
