About Makers@CDE

Have an idea? Build it at Makers@CDE! Learn new skills through our workshops, get trained on the machines in our labs, and use our spaces to turn your ideas into real prototypes.

Need advice? Chat with our Makers-in-Residence for design feedback, technical guidance, or just to bounce off ideas.

Whether you’re working on a course project or building something for fun, we’ll help you make it happen.

What Would You Like To Do?

Pick up core making skills—fast.

Learn fabrication basics like soldering, 3D printing, laser cutting, vacuum forming and more. Workshops are beginner-friendly and run in intensive blocks (typically Week 0 and Recess Week) so you can skill up before deadlines hit.

Attend training for prototyping machinery

Want to learn how to operate the tools in our makerspaces? Join our certification sessions to cover safety, setup, and design basics for different machines.

Join the CDE Makers Interest Group

Build with a community, not alone.

The Makers IG is a student group for those who love to build and explore ideas. Members can access the space, enjoy 3D-printing credits, and get updates on workshops and opportunities across the maker network. All skill levels are welcome.

No time or training? We can fabricate for you.

Send us your files and material details — we can help laser-cut, 3D-print, or assemble your parts. Our team will review your request, confirm materials, and update you when it’s ready for pickup.

Stuck? Talk to a Maker.

Our Makers-in-Residence are here to help you refine ideas, plan your builds, and troubleshoot technical issues. Drop by during office hours or book a session for deeper discussions — whether you’re sketching an early concept or improving a prototype.

Teach, learn, and lead in the labs.

Makers-in-Residence are the heart of our maker community — mentors, builders, and problem-solvers who keep ideas moving. You’ll learn by teaching, grow through collaboration, and help others find the joy of making. Together, we turn imagination into impact.

Where Should You Go?

We have different equipment and spaces to support your making needs — from 3D printing and laser cutting to soldering, sewing, and more. Whatever you’re building, there’s a place here to help you make it happen.
