Building on the Seatrium Professorship established in 2023, which focuses on offshore wind, this expanded collaboration reflects a shared commitment to advancing ocean renewables, decarbonisation, and future-ready engineering solutions.

Over the past years, the Professorship has been held by eminent industry leaders at the forefront of global innovation, including renowned wind energy expert Emeritus Professor Gerard van Bussel, Mr Remi Eriksen, Group President and Chief Executive Officer of DNV Group, and Dr Christopher J. Wiernicki, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).

Through these engagements, the programme has consistently drawn strong participation from students, researchers, and industry professionals, while delivering meaningful outcomes through flagship public lectures, specialised short courses for NUS CDE students and Seatrium engineers, and targeted workforce training initiatives. The Professorship has also fostered collaboration between NUS CDE researchers and Seatrium’s floating wind design and technical teams, underpinned by a robust governance structure that ensures its sustained growth and impact.

This strengthened partnership underscores CDE’s continued efforts to work closely with industry leaders to nurture future-ready talent, accelerate innovation, and contribute towards a more sustainable and resilient energy future.
