Pre-University Engagement

This programme offers students opportunities to engage in deep inquiry and research in STEM. Students undertake a research project under the guidance of professors and faculty members from CDE and established research centres to develop deeper understanding of the research field. 

Eligible for: JC1 students with strong foundation in mathematics, science and technology.

CDE Hosts for SRP Attachments

We are looking for full-time CDE faculty or research staff who are interested to host 1 to 3 MOE SRP students in your lab to serve as SRP mentors. This attachment is a great opportunity to expose your department’s and your research activity to prospective top students. Students can gain first-hand experience working in a lab environment and participating in ongoing research in CDE.  Lab PIs can also assign your lab staff e.g. Research Fellows to serve as mentors for these students.

SMP cultivates secondary school students’ interest and passion in scientific research through mentorship by CDE professors and faculty members and develop critical inquiry in Science. 

Eligible for: Students with interest in and aptitude for Science. They should also be in Secondary 3 and Secondary 4, or Year 3 and Year 4, from schools offering School-based Gifted Education (SBGE) or the Integrated Programme (IP).

IvP aims to foster students' problem-solving skills and encourage ideation through innovation mentorship.

Eligible for: Students with an interest in innovation and invention. They should also be in Primary 5, Secondary 2 and 3, or Year 2 and Year 3 of the Integrated Programme (IP).
