Shireen Lian is the Director of Administration of the NUS College of Design and Engineering (CDE). She leads the College’s administrative functions in the areas of human resources, finance, procurement, IT, communications, and space management.

Shireen has always played a pivotal role in the growth and evolution of the university. She started her career with NUS at the Office of Deputy President (Research and Technology), working closely with the directors of university-level research institutes and centres (RICs) and research centres of excellence (RCEs). She was instrumental in the successful roll-out of the university’s organisational excellence initiatives to the RICs and RCEs. Before taking on her current post, she was Director of Administration of the Faculty of Engineering and led key aspects of the merger of the NUS Faculty of Engineering and the School of Design and Environment to form CDE.

Prior to joining NUS, Shireen was with the Institute of Molecular Agrobiology and Temasek Life Science Laboratory where her portfolio included the planning and formulation of policies during the start-up phase of both research institutes.

Shireen is an alumna of the National University of Singapore (Science). She received the Public Administration Medal (Bronze) at Singapore’s National Day Awards in 2021 for her contributions to the University.
