Professor Ho is recognised with the Distinguished Alumni Award for his exceptional academic achievements, visionary educational leadership and transformative contributions to Singapore’s science and technology ecosystem.
Prof. Ho has served as the fifth President of Nanyang Technological University since 2023. He has accelerated the hiring of top talent and advanced the university’s agenda on artificial intelligence (AI) and interdisciplinarity by setting up the College of Computing and Data Science and NTU Honours College.
As Provost of the National University of Singapore (NUS) from 2018 to 2023, he launched the College of Design and Engineering and NUS College, expanded lifelong learning programmes and championed talent attraction initiatives.
Since 2017, Prof. Ho has served as the founding executive chairman of AISingapore (AISG), a national research and development programme. AISG hasdeveloped impactful research programmes like the 100 Experiments initiative, theAI Apprenticeship Programme, the SEALION large language model platform, andthe AI in Healthcare grand challenge.
Before returning to Singapore, Prof. Ho held a named professorship at the HaasSchool at the University of California, Berkeley. In 2010 he received the Distinguished Teaching Award, the highest university-level teaching award; and in2015, the Williamson Award, the school’s highest faculty award.
In Singapore, Prof. Ho received the 2023 Public Administration Medal (Gold) and the 2024 President’s Science & Technology Medal. He is an academician of Academia Sinica, a fellow of INFORMS and president of the Academy of Engineering, Singapore.
