BME Alumni Homecoming Lunch 2026
On 18 July 2026, alumni and faculty from the Department of Biomedical Engineering gathered for the inaugural BME Alumni Homecoming Lunch, aptly held at the state-of-the-art E7 Engineering in Medicine building, which currently houses most of the BME laboratories. The event marked the 20th year since the first batch of alumni graduated and was attended by 80 alumni across various batches stretching back to the class of 2006. A series of sharing sessions by the faculty members brought the alumni up to speed on department happenings, key milestones as well as changes to the curriculum over the last couple of decades. A presentation on the new building detailed the arduous lab move process and introduced the features and layout of E7 to the older alumni. The alumni reconnected and reminisced over lunch and mingled with familiar faces from the department. The day’s programme was capped off by musical performances by our talented alumni who serenaded everyone with a mix of modern and classic numbers. This event was organized by the pioneering BME Alumni Club, comprising Dr. Justin Tan (Biomedical Engineering ’14; PhD Biomedical Engineering ’19), Dr. Ernest Tan (PhD Biomedical Engineering ’24), Mr. Soon Hock Wei (Biomedical Engineering ’08; MEng Biomedical Engineering ’13), Dr. Liu Ling (PhD Biomedical Engineering ’20), Mr. Qu Kui (Biomedical Engineering ’13) and Dr. Daren Poh (Biomedical Engineering ’17), with Dr. Leo Chen Huei from the BME Department serving as the advisor. The organising team extends its appreciation to the CDE Alumni Relations Office and the Department of Biomedical Engineering for supporting this alumni-led initiative.
