Control, Forward, Retract, Adapt
In this day of age moving towards the 4th industrial revolution, the pace of living are frequently changing according to trends, fashion and new technologies which make architecture and spatial qualities today to be quickly obsolete. The advent of pop-up stalls, hot-desking, co-working and the gig economy are symptoms of a world in flux, prioritising adaptability, agility and impermanence. My project is an exploration and experiment of ways an architecture can be as changeable and adaptable as ‘a pop-up stall’, in the service of a residential community of Kent Vale. It will allow different programmes to be accommodated in a single location over different times of the day. The project aims to be a 24-hour building which aid the needs of the existing community on site. The study will be done by students and will be a series of experiments to develop a systemic design approach that will helps future designers.
