Introduction

Design Summer Camp (DSC) is a 3-week programme at the Department of Architecture, NUS, open to anyone in Junior College and upwards, including university students and working professionals who are interested to learn about a design education.

This immersive, studio-based programme allows individuals with no previous background to experience the conceptual approaches and skills related to the design professions. Students will be exposed to the unique culture of the studio, and to explore topics related to architecture, landscape, urban design—using Singapore as a context. Via experiential learning and design-thinking approaches, they will exercise their spatial imagination and creativity in producing three projects that can be used to build a design portfolio.

In addition to design studio, participants will attend lectures by NUS professors, talks by professional architects, have access to skills workshops, do field trips such as walking tours in the city or visiting an architecture office, as well as consult with DOA programme directors to find out more about the various design programmes on offer at the DOA.
