There is a growing need to move away from the conventional mode of urban planning whereby cars are prioritized, resulting in the encapsulation of the human domain.
Focusing on three characteristics that is resonated in a human-centric city of tomorrow, Estate Equity, Public places and Car-lite, our masterplan design adopts a three-pronged approach to envisage a city that is built by and for the people.
One of the pivotal strategy of the masterplan is rejuvenation of the City, day and night. Through the introduction of housing, both public and private, into the city, the new CBD becomes inclusive and available for people from all walks of life, and revitalizing the city life 24/7.
Another approach is through the introduction of varied, small and large parcel sizes within the city. This encourages a diverse mix of large and small developments within the city, allowing for a more inclusive, dynamic and distinct cityscape.
Lastly is the emphasis more on pedestrian networks and reduce road spaces to move towards a human-centric city. By focusing on walkability through streets and green belts, it reevaluates traditional urban planning methods. This spur greater and more meanignful interactions between humans, nature and the urbanscape, resulting in a vibrant city brimming with activity – the City of Encounters. Roads which traditionally dominates the city are diverted and submerged underground roads used for servicing and carparking.
