“Sustainable Surprise” is a process that verifies through the experience and interaction of users and communities in the long term, constituting the self-sustaining inner strength of the architectural space or city. In modern society, there will inexorably be fascinating new ‘Sustainable Surprises’ that arise from the interaction between the user and the construction, between the architects and the architectural space and between individuals and the community. The key to creating ‘Sustainable Surprise’ is the combination of academic knowledge, modern theories and the essence of indigenous folk culture. Based on the principle of 1+1>2, in mathematical terminology, if each academic/folk element has a value of approx. 1 or >1, the sum of them will be >2.
