Constructing a Landscape – Deciphering the Hidden Layers of Making Landscapes

Inspired by the Chinese term “one world in one flower”, the philosophy of Yifeng’s work is to create an universe through any corner designed and to provide a peaceful and inspirational space in life.

A sensory approach articulates the importance of perception and the poetic interrelationship of the micro and macro-cosms. This reveals the hidden beauty of nature and reinvigorates awareness through design for senses. Through practice, Yifeng aspires to deliver finely-crafted, elegant, innovative and tasteful designs, and to explore how environments reorganize the relationship between human and nature.

In this seminar, Yifeng will share his experiences of constructing landscapes from concept to implementation. By unpacking the hidden processes of how landscapes are made, it reveals the necessity of an integrated design process and collaboration between architects, landscape architects, and other professionals.

Yifeng Lin is the founder of YIYU design. The firm was selected as the most popular landscape design studio in 2017 on Gooood in China, 10 emerging landscape studios by Landizer 2020 in UK. With numerous projects published on  international platforms, their work has been published in the book “ New Horizons” by Jutta Kehrer (Birhauser, Switzerland) in 2020, “Park of the 21ist century “ by Victoria Newhouse (Rizzoli, New York) in 2021, and “ 30 Trees” by Ron Henderson (Birhauser, Switzerland) in 2023.

Yifeng Lin was selected as the “new talent “ in landscape architecture by TOPOS magzine in Germany in 2017. He was also an Honorary Assistant Professor in HKU from 2015 to 2019, and is currently a Visiting Senior Fellow in National University of Singapore.

Yifeng recieved a Master in Landscape Architecture from Harvard’s Graduate School of Design, and a Bachelor of Architecture from Tamkang University.
