Using examples from around the world, and my experience in re-shaping the architectural and design programs at SAIC, the book chapter describes a relational design pedagogy that is directed towards self-knowing and action. It calls for the future designer to be an engaged practitioner who goes beyond the conventional client-based model and disciplinary silos by being an activist, a provocateur, a maker, a facilitator, a curator as well as a synthesizer.
