APPLY NOW to our Master of Science in Integrated Sustainable Design (ISD) programme! Application for our January 2024 intake will be closed on August 30, 2023.

The curriculum of the ISD programme is anchored to four key pillars:

  1. Singapore and the Asia Condition: The programme explores issues specific to the tropical/ sub-tropical climates and high-density urbanism. Singapore is used as a test-bed and a case study through which other Asian cities are studied.
  2. Multi-Scalar Approach: Climate resilience requires action at all scales. The programme therefore examines issues at different scales of the built environment – from the scale of the building to that of the whole city.
  3. Systems-Thinking: Buildings are embedded within wider urban systems such as energy and water grids, biodiversity and habitat networks, public and social space. This system of systems is a complex living system that can be improved or degraded. The programme investigates the interfaces between these systems (both biotic and abiotic) to create relations through design that can improve the performance of these systems.
  4. Project-Based Cross Disciplinary learning: The programme welcomes students from various backgrounds related directly/ indirectly to the built environment – architecture, planning, environmental design, landscape, policy etc. The studio projects leverage on this multi-disciplinary ethos to nurture collaborative and critical thinking in solving complex design problems.
