Professor Lam Khee Poh Named a 2025 WELL Educator of the Year (IWBI Awards)

Prof Lam Khee Poh 01

The Department is honoured to share that Professor Lam Khee Poh has been recognised as one of the 2025 WELL Educators of the Year at the IWBI Awards, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to advancing the WELL Building Standard.

An architect and researcher specialising in building performance and computational design, Prof Lam has advised on award-winning green developments in Singapore, China, and the United States. His achievements have also been recognised through honours such as the Alexander Schwarzkopf Prize, an IBM Faculty Award, and the iBuildSG LEAD Distinguished Fellowship.

Reflecting on his journey at NUS, Prof Lam noted that having helped initiate the MEM Programme in 1998 (as Acting Dean) and now teaching the programme’s “Well and Green Built Environment” core course is especially meaningful to him, “closing the loop” in his academic career.

“I am utterly humbled and deeply honoured to receive the Global WELL Educator Award 2025. It is an immensely fulfilling journey which started some four decades ago, working with PhD students on research and imparting newfound knowledge to generations of architecture and built environment students around the world. I enjoyed working with IWBI and the Well Living Lab colleagues and thank them for keenly supporting my educational endeavours. I am grateful to the National University of Singapore for the opportunity to continue to develop and deliver the ‘Well and Green Built Environment’ curriculum as part of the MSc (Environmental Management) programme and as an Elective offering for the MSc (Sustainable Healthcare) Programme.”

“Your achievement is a testament to the dedication you show, and we are so proud to have you as part of our community. You have been awarded a very very special award – the WELL Educator of the Year. This is a global award and only two individuals are selected across the world. This is one of IWBI’s highest honours and reflects the scale and impact that you have had – and continue to have – on students in Singapore and beyond,”
