LAD1003 Introduction to Landscape Architecture
This module introduces landscape architecture as a professional discipline. It presents a survey of the development of the profession and how the profession responds to societal needs in providing services to various public and private clients. Emphasis is placed on understanding the significance of environmental, social and cultural, physical and visual, and aesthetic factors in developing intervention strategies and designs. Contemporary landscape architectural issues, leading practitioners and their works are presented. Beside lectures and in-class discussion, students will engage in active learning through field trips that involve a variety of exploratory activities including walking, observing, sketching, photographing, and writing.
