Researcher Positions

Career Opportunities at National University of Singapore - Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Dr. GUO Yang's Research Group

Dr. GUO Yang's Group invites applications for the positions of one Ph.D. student and two postdoctoral researchers. The group is dedicated to the development of models and policy studies for industrial sector eco-transition and sustainable infrastructure systems using interdisciplinary approaches.

About PI

Dr. GUO Yang, soon to be a Presidential Young Professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, National University of Singapore, will commence his role in December 2023. Yang earned Bachelor's (2014) and Ph.D. (2019) degrees in environmental science and engineering from Tsinghua University and minored in computer science. He then joined Princeton University as a Schmidt Science Fellow and subsequently as an associate research scholar.

Yang’s Ph.D. work focused on decarbonizing industrial clusters and their environmental co-benefits, advised by Prof. CHEN Lyujun and Prof. TIAN Jinping at Tsinghua University. His research has contributed to shaping national policies and standards and benefited >10 industrial clusters across China. At Princeton, Yang worked with Prof. Denise L. Mauzerall on industrial synergy strategies, including the symbiosis between coal power and wastewater treatment, the deployment of green hydrogen in chemical production, and steel-chemical co-production.

Yang's work has been published in top journals including Nature Sustainability, Nature Communications (2 articles), and Environmental Science & Technology (4 articles), etc. He has been recognized with several honors, including the Early Career Award granted by the Chinese Society for Industrial Ecology (2022), Schmidt Science Fellowship (2020), the Excellent Doctoral Dissertation granted by the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences (2020), and the top prize of Qian Yi Environmental Award (2018).
