MSc Student Exchange Programme
Outgoing Student Exchange Programme
The MSc Student Exchange Programme (MSc SEP), offered in collaboration with selected partner universities, is open to both full-time and part-time MSc Civil Engineering students. This programme provides a transformative experience that extends beyond the classroom.

Selection Criteria
Students will be assessed based on a weighted average of their GPA and Personal Statement as part of the review process.
In addition, applicants must meet:
- The Faculty’s internal application criteria, and
- The partner university’s (PU) requirements for study abroad or exchange programmes, such as:
- Minimum GPA or academic performance
- Language proficiency (if applicable)
- Number of semesters completed at the home university
Transfer of Credits
Courses taken in the Partner University will be credit transferred to the NUS MSc programme with grades.
Insurance
Students going on exchange are strongly encouraged to purchase personal insurance.
Withdrawal from SEP
Once a student has accepted a SEP offer, he/she is expected to complete the exchange. If a student wishes to withdraw, they should submit a formal withdrawal request to the CEE Department with a valid reason.
Important: Withdrawals are taken very seriously, and an administrative fee will apply for students who withdraw without valid reasons after accepting the offer on the partner university’s website.

Application Process
- Briefing Session
A briefing session will be held at the start of each application period. Students will be notified of the details via email. - Research and Plan
Begin by researching and drafting a preliminary study plan. Ensure that the academic calendar of the partner university aligns with the NUS academic schedule to avoid any overlap. You should also assess your financial readiness to support your stay during the exchange period. - NUS: Online Application & Interview
To apply for the MSc exchange, you must indicate your interest by completing the online application form. The link will be provided via email.Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview with a CEE faculty member as part of the selection process. Students will be informed of the outcome via email.
- Partner University: Nomination and Approval
The department will submit the list of nominated students to the respective partner universities for their review and approval. Once approved, the partner university will email students with details of their official online application process.
