Mr Seah Cheng San – Engineering Alumni Service Honours Recipient
Mr Seah Cheng San
Civil Engineering, Class of 1982
Quote from recipient: “One of the best things about being a volunteer champion at NUS is that it keeps me interacting with students. I hear their stories, their challenges, their hopes and dreams. Every year, I am inspired by students’ desires to better themselves despite their challenging circumstance.”
Mr Seah Cheng San graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from the National University of Singapore in 1982 and completed Master of Business Administration from NUS in 1992. He was awarded the Singapore Armed Forces (Local) Scholarship to study Engineering at NUS and served the army as an Infantry Officer for 18 years. He held senior management positions in public listed companies such as JIT Holdings limited. Mr Seah is now a Director of 3Fleur Pte Ltd, an investment holding company.
Mr Seah led a group of alumni from the Engineering Class of 1982 to collectively establish a faculty-level endowed bursary fund in 2009. The objective of the Engineering Class of 1982 Bursary Fund is to provide financial assistance to needy full-time undergraduates. Mr Seah is a stalwart of Class Giving at NUS, galvanising many to support to cause dear to his heart. He rallied former classmates and organised the Engineering Class of 1982 30th Anniversary Reunion in January 2012. Mr Seah was invited to be a member of the NUS Alumni Student Advancement Committee in 2013. In May 2014, he organised the inaugural NUS Engineering Charity Golf event, which raised more than $400,000. Today, the Engineering Class of 1982 Bursary Fund stands with a grand total of more than $1.8 million and has benefited 87 students. Similarly, Mr Seah has championed similar causes for Sheares Hall, NUS Overseas Colleges and the NUS Business School.
Mr Seah, with his spirit of volunteerism and commitment, is a role model for NUS Engineering alumni. In recognition of his dedication and service to his alma mater, the Faculty is proud to present Mr Seah Cheng San with the Engineering Alumni Service Honours.
