Honorary Fellow Dr Harry Tan Siew Ann emerged as one of the Winners in the Commercial Category at the BCA DESIGN AND ENGINEERING SAFETY AWARD 2024

Honorary Fellow Dr Harry Tan Siew Ann from the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering is the Geotechnical Specialist behind the project “CapitaSky” owned by Capitaland emerged as one of the Winners in the Commercial Category at the BCA DESIGN AND ENGINEERING SAFETY AWARD 2024. Dr Tan initiated the use of all existing piles built 40 years ago which is the first large-scale Singapore project. CapitaSky 185m tall, 29-storey Grade A Office Building is the 1st Commercial Redevelopment Building in the Central Business District (CBD) to REUSE 100% of Existing Bored Piles.

The reuse of all existing piles saved 8,400 tonnes of concrete and contributed 37% reduction in carbon emissions. This Reduce, Reuse & Recycle – REDUCTION OF EMBODIED CARDON EMISSION is indeed an engineering feat to save our environment.
