In July 2018, Centre for Water Research participated The Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) which was held from 9 to 11 July 2018 at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre by showcasing emerging and state-of-art water treatment technologies to government agencies, industry and public. One of showcases is a novel water purification system integrated with UV LED and photocatalyst. The system uses UV LED to substitute the conventional mercury lamp, and adopting the idea of advanced oxidation to achieve simultaneous water disinfection and purification. It is a good example to demonstrate the applications of UV LED in disinfection and purification, which will be the main driven force of UV LED market in the following years. The water purification system demonstrated shows that UV LED technology is ready to change point-of-use and point-of-entry applications dramatically.
