Professor Ng How Yong, Professor Ong Say Leong and their researchers have won 1st Prize at the 3rd “GCL Cup” of the International College Green Energy Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. The “GCL cup”, co-organized by the Golden Concord Group Limited (GCL) and Shanghai Jiaotong University, is a well-known international competition in the field of green energy. The third “GCL Cup”, held in Suzhou, China (20-21st Oct 2017) has attracted more than 200 participants from over 40 universities worldwide.
The NUS team’s submission entitled “Algae Fuel” leaded by Dr. Shi Xueqing and Dr. Low Siok Ling presented an integrated technology of wastewater treatment and biodiesel production, won the 1st Prize in the competition. In addition, Dr. Shi was invited as the representative of all participants to give a short presentation before the competition award ceremony, and two China local media press (Suzhou TV and Jiangsu Satellite TV) also interviewed him to briefly introduce their project after the competition.
Dr Li Si (supervised by Prof. Hu Jiangyong for her PhD study during 2012-2016, currently working at Peking University, China as a postdoctoral fellow) was awarded IUVA Young Professional Award at IUVA World Congress in Dubrovnik, Croatia, Sept. 2017.
