The Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city (SSTEC) is a collaborative project between the governments of China and Singapore to jointly develop a model for sustainable cities. The Tianjin Eco-city will be served as a role model to support China’s urbanization. Key feature of Tianjin Eco-city is its focus on environmental protection, resource and energy conservation and sustainable development. This study was proposed to support the efforts of SSTEC to meet its vision for Tianjin Eco-city to be a thriving city which is socially harmonious, environmentally friendly and resource efficient. This study was conducted to optimize media variation characteristics, plant selection, design, construct and monitor bioretention system to improve stormwater runoff quality and quantity in Tianjin Eco-city.
