On 10 November 2020, the article “Semi-liner shipping service design” authored by Yadong Wang and Qiang Meng (Professor in Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering) and published by one of top transportation research journals – Transportation Science in May 2020 was awarded the Freight Transportation and Logistics Outstanding Paper Award of INFORMS Transportation Science and Logistics Society. This award is given once a year to an outstanding paper in the field of freight transportation and logistics. The criteria of this award include that a paper must have been published in a refereed journal between June 1, 2017 and May 31, 2020 and must present innovative approaches for solving complex problems in transportation and/or logistics, with an emphasis on operations research and quantitative methods. This award is very competitive and is selected from tens of papers published in high impact journals such as Transportation Science, Operations Research, and Management Science etc. It is noted that Dr. Yadong Wang is Prof. Meng’s formal PhD student and graduated from NUS in 2017.
