Biography
Dr Anand is a Head of Engineering (Geo Dynamics) at the Defence Science & Technology Agency (DSTA) and provides technical support for infrastructural developments covering areas such as soft ground improvement, structural design to resist blast effects, dynamic response of buried structures, ground vibrations propagation and effects. He also oversees training, competency development and assessment of DSTA staff in the Protective Engineering domain. Dr Anand obtained his Bachelor’s and PhD degrees from NTU. He also obtained specialised training in blast engineering as part of a Master’s degree at Northwestern University. His main research interests are in soil dynamics, ground improvement, protective engineering design, ground vibration monitoring and performance evaluation of dynamic and impulsively loaded structures. He also has a Law degree and an Advocate & Solicitor (S’pore) with interests in construction dispute resolution. Dr Anand is a practising PE (Civil) and Specialist PE (Protective Security).
