Biography

Professor LEUNG CHUN FAI is an Emeritus Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore. He has been a staff member of the department since April 1981. Professor Leung graduated from the University of Liverpool with B Eng in 1977 and PhD in 1981. He has taught courses in geotechnical engineering, underground space, and pile foundations. For the past 25 years, Professor Leung has taught many public short courses in geotechnical engineering in Singapore and overseas.

Professor Leung is a fellow of the Academy of Engineering Singapore. He has delivered many keynote/invited lectures at international geotechnical and offshore engineering conferences. Professor Leung has published over 100 technical papers in international journals covering topics such as centrifuge modelling of geotechnical problems, pile foundations, land reclamation, tunnel-foundation interaction, and offshore geotechnics. He has served on the Editorial Board of many international geotechnical and offshore engineering journals. Professor Leung is the President of International Press-in Association since 2020. He is a member of International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) Technical Committee TC104 on Geotechnical Physical Modelling and TC209 on Offshore Geotechnics.

Professor Leung is a registered professional engineer (geotechnical specialist) in Singapore and a chartered civil engineer in UK. He has served as a geotechnical consultant for over 100 government and private organisations involving projects in Singapore and overseas.
