Biography
With a PhD degree in Transport Modelling, Professor Xie Litian has more than 20 years of extensive experience working in the public and private sectors, covering key areas of Transport Planning, Traffic Study and Mobility Strategy & Solutions.
At the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) of Singapore, he leads to develop innovative solutions and simulation tools to enhance Land Use & Transport Integrated Planning across the government agencies. On a part-time basis, Professor Xie has been teaching postgraduate programme at universities since Jan 2014. In addition, he reviews technical papers for pre-eminent journals in the fields of transportation research.
From 2018 to 2021, he worked as Vice President (mobilityX) and Deputy Head (Transport Planning) at SMRT, leading divisions to develop Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) Solutions and deliver transport consultancy projects. From 2008 to 2018, Professor Xie worked at the Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA) where he provided expertise advice to departments across the Authority and led specialist teams to undertake transport modelling and planning work which determined the transport network and development strategies for different districts in Singapore. Professor Xie was the Project Manager for Singapore Transport Impact Assessment (TIA) Guidelines (2011 & 2017 Editions), which set the technical requirements for transport studies towards car-lite developments. Before joined the LTA, he worked in international consultancy firms with mang projects delivered in Singapore and other countries such as China, India, UAE, etc.
